08.06.26- On Monday, Class Two was introduced to our new book The Tin Forest through an exciting tropical experience. To help bring the setting to life, we tasted a range of tropical fruits including lychees, Sharon fruit, grapefruits and papayas, danced to hula-inspired music, and relaxed while listening to the soothing sounds of ocean waves.

From there learning of Ancient Egyptian times, they studied about the importance of the River Nile and the annual flooding that occurred which brought fertile soil to grow the crops. In English, the children wrote a diary based on them being a farmer and experiencing the day of the flood.

11.05.26- Class Two have had so much fun exploring Art and DT with Mrs Youhill this year! This week, they created beautiful quilling artwork. It took lots of time and patience to carefully coil each piece of paper, but the results are definitely worth it. Mrs White had a special visit down to Class Two and was especially impressed with the results

11.05.26- In Geography, we have been learning about hot and cold places around the world. Today, the children explored different maps from our class atlases: a climate map and a world maps. They used these to create a table identifying hot and cold countries and the continents they are located in. Some children were able to draw on their previous knowledge to explain why countries near the Equator are more likely to be hot.

In Class Two, on a Friday afternoon, children have a free choice of how they would like to build on their knowledge of our topic within the classroom provision. Some of the learning that took place this week included: creating animals and landmarks from hot and cold places, drawing animals we have been learning about in science, and exploring non-fiction books. It was wonderful to see them taking ownership of their learning and deepening their understanding through their own interests.
