Class 4 - Autumn 2026

Whole Class Music Tuition - Clarinet

Year 4 have had their first 2 sessions learning about how the reed works on a clarinet and also how the clarinet fits together.  They have been using the mouthpiece to make sounds and joining in with songs that are developing their knowledge of rhythm.  Next week will see the class holding the clarinet and playing their first notes!

Visiting Author - Jess Butterworth

We were lucky enough to have local author, Jess Butterworth, visit us and help us to create ideas for our own stories.  She asked us a variety of questions about the place we would set our stories, the problems the characters would overcome and more.  We had a great time and all came away really inspired! Year 4 also had a chance to question Jess about her books asking a range of carefully considered questions.

English - The legend of Podkin One Ear

Year 4 have been enjoying the start of the story Podkin One Ear by Kieran Larwood.  They have been creating maps in the style of the ones found in the book and also using their reading and imagination skills to draw the character of The Storyteller from the book.  Have a look and see their creative work:
